Experience takes many forms. Partner Joe Hogan combines experience in the courtroom with his experience outside the law to create excellent outcomes for his clients. Before he practiced law he worked in commercial transportation, general construction, fisheries, and the natural resource extraction industries. He uses that experience to connect with industry clients and to help translate their stories to judges and juries.
Joe Hogan's practice focuses on civil litigation including catastrophic injury, wrongful death, professional liability, premises liability, and construction defect. Joe has experience in first- and third-party insurance coverage matters and also handles appellate matters. Joe is licensed to practice in Washington State courts, the U.S. District Court, the Western District of Washington, and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Joe has handled litigation on pro hac basis in Alaska and Idaho.
Joe joined Scheer.Law PLLC as a senior associate when it was founded. Before Scheer.Law he worked for a Seattle-based insurance defense firm. Before moving to Seattle, Joe clerked for the Hon. Frank A. Pfiffner of the Alaska Superior Court in Anchorage, Alaska. Joe as represented clients in mediations, arbitrations, jury trials, and on appeal.
Joe speaks regularly to legal and industry groups. This includes recent presentations for Themis Advocates Group, Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Association, Seminar Group, and others.
Joe received his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2015, where he graduated cum laude among other honors. He received his B.A. in Economics from Western Washington University in 2009.
